Vehicle Insurance
The Registration Is Settled. Your Policy Should Say So.
Ownership sits with your Montana LLC. Coverage is the other half of doing this properly, and it deserves the same care. Tell us about the vehicle and we’ll put you in front of a licensed agent who has worked through situations like yours before.
- One licensed partner, writing in all 50 states
- Fluent in LLC-titled and out-of-state registered vehicles
- Exotics, collector cars, RV conversions, motorcycles, watercraft
- A real person on the phone, often the same business day

From a daily driver to a six-figure build, a touring coach to a race-day trailer queen.
LLC-Fluent
Entity-titled vehicles are routine here, not an exception that needs explaining twice.
One Vetted Partner
A single licensed agency, not a lead form sold on to whoever bids highest.
Why This Partner
We Looked For The Agency That Already Knew The Answer
Most owners who come to us have already had the same phone call: an agent who has never seen a Montana-titled vehicle, a quote that stalls at the ownership question, a policy written against the wrong garaging address. We went looking for the opposite of that call.
- They see this structure every week. Entity ownership is not a special case that has to be researched before anyone can quote it.
- Licensed in all 50 states. One relationship covers you whether the vehicle lives in Florida, Colorado, or somewhere new next year.
- The unusual is ordinary to them. RV conversions, imports, short VINs, salvage history, and vehicles that were never sold here in the first place.
- A named human, not a queue. You reach the same office that quoted you, which matters far more at claim time than at quote time.
Before You Call
Four Things Worth Knowing First
None of this is complicated, but getting it wrong at the application stage is what creates problems years later, when a claim is being reviewed.
Insure It Where It Sleeps
Carriers price risk on where a vehicle is actually garaged and driven, not where the plate was issued. Your policy should carry your real home-state garaging address. A Montana registration does not call for a Montana policy.
A Personal Policy Usually Fits
Holding title in an entity does not automatically push you onto a commercial policy. For most owners the vehicle stays on a personal policy with the LLC recognized as the titled owner and added as an additional interest.
Not Every Agent Has Seen This
A Montana LLC registration is unremarkable once you have written a few. If your current agent has not, expect the quote to slow down at the ownership question. That is unfamiliarity, not a problem with the structure.
Say It Plainly Up Front
Tell your carrier who holds title, where the vehicle is kept, and how it is used. Continuity between ownership, registration, and coverage is the whole point of doing this properly, and it is what protects you when a claim is reviewed.
The Difference
Why A Specialist Changes The Call
Both can write the policy. Only one of them starts the conversation already knowing what you are describing.
A General Agent
- May see an entity-titled vehicle once or twice a year
- Often needs to research out-of-state registration before quoting
- Familiarity varies office to office, and person to person
- Specialty builds, imports, and conversions may be declined outright
We Insure
- Works with LLC-titled vehicles as a matter of routine
- Already familiar with the scenarios Ride Legal clients arrive with
- Licensed in all 50 states, so a move does not restart the search
- Handles RVs, motorcycles, watercraft, imports, salvage, and conversions
Questions
The Ones We Hear Most
Do I need a Montana policy because the vehicle is registered there?
No. Registration state and insurance state are separate questions. Carriers rate the policy on where the vehicle is garaged and driven, which for nearly every client is their home state. Confirm the specifics with a licensed insurance professional.
Can an LLC-owned vehicle stay on my personal policy?
In most cases, yes. Ownership through an entity does not on its own require a commercial policy. The common arrangement keeps you as the primary insured driver, with the LLC recognized as the titled owner and listed as an additional interest. Whether a specialised policy fits better depends on the vehicle and how it is used.
Can I keep my current insurance company?
Often you can. The usual path is to notify your carrier of the ownership structure, provide the entity documentation, and update the policy so the titled owner and garaging address are correct. Where a carrier is not comfortable with entity-owned vehicles, that is where a specialist agency is worth the call.
Why does Ride Legal point people to one agency?
Because the alternative is worse. A generic quote form sells your details to several agents, most of whom have never written an entity-titled vehicle. We would rather send you to a single licensed agency that already understands the structure than to whoever pays the most for the lead.
Does Ride Legal sell the insurance?
No. Ride Legal does not sell, underwrite, bind, or broker insurance of any kind. We establish and maintain the ownership structure and the registration. We Insure is a separately licensed insurance agency, and any policy, quote, or coverage decision is entirely between you and them.
Our Role
Ride Legal Does Not Sell Insurance
What we do is make sure the ownership structure is correctly established, the documentation is consistent, and the registration matches how the vehicle will actually be used. Coverage is the piece that has to sit on top of all three, so we maintain a relationship with a licensed agency that understands what they are looking at.

A Montana LLC is an ownership structure, not insurance, and does not replace the coverage a vehicle needs. Insurance is offered by We Insure, a separately licensed insurance agency; Ride Legal does not sell, underwrite, bind, or broker insurance and is not a party to any policy. Ride Legal is a privately owned website and is not a government agency or an insurance provider.
