Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-16
This Privacy Policy describes how Ride Legal (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our website, customer portal, and services. Personal information means information that identifies, relates to, or can reasonably be linked to you. By using our website or services, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide. When you place an order, create an account, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and payment information; information about your vehicle, including VIN, make, model, year, value, and title or registration documents; information needed to form or maintain an LLC, including member names and addresses; and documents you upload or send us to complete your order, which may include a driver’s license, power of attorney, bill of sale, or other government or identity documents. Some services require sensitive information such as a Social Security number or government ID number; we collect these only when required to complete the service you ordered.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website we automatically collect device and usage information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring pages, and approximate location, using cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6). Our service finder also records the selections you make so we can prepare your quote and order.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to process and fulfill your orders, including filing documents with state agencies on your behalf; to create and manage your account and LLC; to communicate with you about your orders, documents, and renewals; to provide customer support; to process payments and prevent fraud; to personalize your experience and improve our website and services; to send marketing communications where permitted (see Section 5); and to comply with legal obligations.
3. Payment Information and Saved Payment Methods
Payments are processed by third-party payment processors. Your card details are transmitted directly to the processor over an encrypted connection; Ride Legal does not store your full card number on our servers. When you complete a purchase, your payment method is saved to your account as a secure token held by our payment processor so you can check out faster on future orders. We do not charge a saved payment method unless you place an order, approve a charge, or otherwise direct us to use it. You can view, update, or remove a saved payment method in your customer portal at any time.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
We share information only as needed to run our business and complete your orders, with: government agencies (state motor vehicle and business filing agencies, to perform the registration, titling, and LLC services you order); service providers who work on our behalf, such as payment processors, cloud hosting, communication and CRM platforms, email and SMS delivery providers, and analytics providers, each bound to protect your information and use it only to provide services to us; referral partners you ask us to connect you with, such as our insurance partner, who operate under their own privacy policies; professional advisors and authorities when required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights, customers, or the public; and a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
5. Marketing Emails and Text Messages
Transactional communications. We use your email address and phone number to send order updates, document requests, renewal notices, and other messages about your services. These are sent to every customer and are not marketing.
Marketing email. We may send you marketing and promotional emails about our services and offers. In accordance with the CAN-SPAM Act, our marketing emails identify us, include our physical address, and contain an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time using that link or by contacting us; opting out does not affect transactional emails about your orders.
Text messages. If you opt in at checkout or elsewhere, we send recurring marketing and service text messages to the mobile number you provide, which may be sent using automated technology. Message and data rates may apply and message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any message to opt out and HELP for assistance. We do not sell or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in consent with third parties for their own marketing; mobile information is shared only with the providers who deliver messages on our behalf. Opting out of marketing texts does not affect service texts about your active orders.
6. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the website working (for example, remembering your service finder progress and cart), to understand how visitors use the site, and to measure our advertising. We use third-party analytics and tag management services, which may set their own cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalized advertising through your ad platform settings, such as Google’s Ad Settings. Disabling cookies may limit some site features. See our Cookie Policy for details.
7. Data Retention and Security
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide your services, maintain your account and LLC records, meet legal and tax obligations, and resolve disputes, and then delete or de-identify it. Because our services involve government filings and multi-year entities, some records (such as LLC formation and registration documents) are retained for the life of the entity or as required by law.
We protect your information with encrypted connections (SSL/TLS), access controls that limit information to personnel who need it, and payment processing handled by PCI-compliant providers rather than our own servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but if a data breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you by email within seven business days of confirming the breach, or sooner where the law requires.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of targeted advertising. California residents have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA, and residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws have similar rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 9 or update your information in your customer portal. We will verify your identity before acting on a request and respond within the time required by your state’s law. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
We honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals where required by law. You can visit our public website without creating an account, and our Privacy Policy link is available on every page.
9. Children, Changes, and Contact
Children. Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not market to them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy. We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision, and material changes will be announced on this page. Your continued use of the website or services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
